Advice please on CiviCRM and themes
July 03, 2011, 04:23:09 pm
Our website is getting a new theme, and we have a few problems with the theme and CiviCRM (CiviCRM menu not appearing, CiviCRM works best full width of screen for lists etc). Only staff use the CiviCRM back-office functions. We don't (currently) have CiviMembers and the only non-anonymous users are staff.

We have a few options ...
  • Ask the developer to get the theme working with CiviCRM (but it's Drupal 6 and we'll probably upgrade to D7 in the next year)
  • Use the CiviCRM Theme module to select a different theme for the CiviCRM back-office pages (but it seems to have issues)
  • Use a module like ThemeKey to do the same result (with perhaps wider support than CiviCRM Theme but less specific support of CiviCRM)
  • Access the back-office functions through a different site (eg, through staff.example.com rather than www.example.com)

Can anyone offer any advice on the pros and cons of these or any other options?

Thanks!
Ken

civicrm_theme or theme_key should be easiest.

CiviCRM theme is moved to core and will be available in 4.0.5 release and onwards. ( for d7 )
