Two signup pages for one event?
July 09, 2011, 04:56:10 am
Hi,

I'm new to civicrm and am just starting to setup civievent.

I'm creating an event where I want attendees to sign-up online in the normal way. That bit is fine.

I also want volunteers to be able to sign up to help steward at the event. I've found that you can add a role selector on a profile but I want to have two different pages for sign-up; one for the standard attendees and then another one in a nother location for the volunteers. My reasoning is two fold - it will keep volunteer registration somewhere else on the site and therefore doesn't complicate things for attendees and allows me to collect other required information for volunteers I don't need from attendees.

I may have misunderstood how this might be done easily, so I hope somone can point me in the right direction.

If not done easily - would I have to use hooks or ajax to show/hide fields depending on whether the persons role was one or the other, can I feed the role into the page somehow depending on which page they load from the front end? IE they click on register as attendee and it goes to one form with x fields or they click on register as volunteer and they go to another form with xy fields? Hope that makes sense.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

i suspect the easiest option might be to set up a different event for the volunteers to sign up

Hi,

I agree with you that this would be useful - I think it's been asked for other times but I don't think there's an easy path at the moment. How comfortable are you with custom coding....

Thanks for the replies.

I'm just getting into this so my skills are progressing and I'm trying to pick up the system and the coding at the same time as I'm a bit new to PHP. (I come from a CRM but pre-proprietary coding background (Pivotal CRM).) Need some time to get up to speed a bit more. Looks like I've talked myself into a few little things when I've got a bit of time. I do want to give back in terms of code as this is a great system.

Would this also explain another related thing I was looking at about fees.

I've set the fee for an event to £10 but I want to register volunteers in the backend manually, they should be able to attend the event for free, as they are stewards say. How do I do this as I seem to have to select the only option for the fee of £10?

I don't want to give an option of £0 for volunteers as then normal attendees would select this.

Again, sounds like two events, one for the attendees and one for the volunteers would solve both these issues. Do others have the free for volunteers/speakers issue?

Cheers,

Dave
