Subscribe url for external forms
July 10, 2011, 04:02:42 pm
Hi,

First of I am really glad to have found such a wonderful extension for joomla, but can't figure out the most basic thing: collecting leads via external web forms that submit subscribes into CiviCRM.

What is the subscribe url? How can I subscrive via a form?

Thanks,
Yosi

Well, it took me several hours to realize there is no such feature in CiviCRM - no built-in way to capture leads.

I understand there is a webform module for drupal and nothing for Joomla...

In case someone might need this, the url for adding new contacts (or individauls) with curl or a similiar silent way, has to be coded manually, and the url for the form action (from the New Individaul backend form) is

yourdomain.com/administrator/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/add

Cheers!

You should check the profiles feature of civicrm which does a lot / most of what you might want. Check the CiviCRM book for more information:

I'm glad I found this post before I spent any more hours searching for something that isn't there!  Thankfully, the Joomla work around is easy.

Create a group for your email registrants.  Create a group for each newsletter if you wish.

Then create an Email Subscription Registration PROFILE - whatever you want on the form.  Have whoever fills it out be added to your email group.

Then create a page with the Profile on it, and add it to your menus.

Hey, thank you lobo.

I had notification disabled for this post and found your reply while hoping for a reply on another post of mine :)

Yes, I use profiles and they are great!

Thanks mates,
Yosi
