Displaying PAYPAL as an option for Event registration
July 11, 2011, 11:14:52 am
Hi there. I've setup an event which allows event registrants to pay later or pay using Paypal standard. The problem I have is that there is nothing on the initial registration pages that indicates that the default mode of payment is Paypal - the customer only has (in a default setup, a checkbox for Pay Later, but no way of selecting (or understanding that the default is) Paypal. THe only way they find out is after they click continue.

Users are confused by this and it would seem a more intuitive way of handling this would be radio buttons for Paypal and Pay later (in my case, anyway)

Am I missing something here, or would the only option be to change the Workshop fee label to indicate that the default payment mode is Paypal?

I'm using the most recent release of Drupal 6 and 3.4.4 of Civicrm.

Thanks
Chris Hutcheson

You might want to indicate in the intro text of the event registration that the online payment provider is paypal. This issue has not been raised before by other folks (in my memory)

Thanks Lobo

Would radio buttons - Paypal, Pay later, (and possibly offering other payment methods as well such as Authorize.net) be under consideration?

yes, if someone is willing to investigate and submit a patch for this that handles the payment processor info in CiviCRM (i.e. does not assume it is paypal)

note that the schema does not support multiple payment processors for the same contribution page (this has also been requested). this will be a significantly bigger change than the above (i think we've speced this as a 50-75 hour project)
