Stop automatic receipt when batch updating "pending pay later" to "attended"
July 11, 2011, 11:35:19 am
After an event, I did a "Find Participants" search, selected those who attended, picked action "Batch Update Participants via Profile", selected profile "Participant Status", and then set all to "Attended".

Then a few unexpected things happened for each "pending pay later" registration we had:

  • They received the event confirmation email (again) but this time with transaction id stuff filled out and event receipt pdf attached. They didn't know that because the subject line still said "Registration Confirmation" based on the event configuration.
  • Their participant status was changed to "Registered" not "Attended"
  • Their event fee contribution was marked as "Completed" but shown as received on the date they registered online (technically not the date we received it).

Of all those unexpected actions, I would really like to stop the automatic email receipt. Or be able to customize the text independent of the event confirmation.

I looked in the system workflow messages but got a little lost.

I would appreciate any help because batch updating is such a time saver, but I'll have to stop using it if I can't suppress the receipt.

Using CiviCRM 3.4.1 on Drupal 6.22

Thanks!  :)

We have a similar situation. I hope I'm not hijacking this thread. we'd like that there NOT be a default send a Confirmation email when a person is registered offline.  How does one change that?

Same issue here, if importing participants via CSV they are getting a confirmation email, is there a way to stop that?

Not to revive a dead thread or anything but....

Is there a way in 4.0+ to deactivate the automatic receipting in CiviEvent when contacts are registered or update in bulk or via profile?
