I am using v4.0.  Just updated and have had a number of issues.  My latest is when using a contribution page to set up a membership the following occurs, "There is no valid Membership Status available for selected membership dates."  This error also occurs when editing an existing membership. I saw an earlier post about dates being transposed. 

Other date issues reported by drupal 7: Notice: Undefined index: start_date in CRM_Member_BAO_Membership::fixMembershipStatusBeforeRenew() (line 1536 of /home/content/40/6567240/html/membership/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Member/BAO/Membership.php).

I think that error was triggered with date formats other than the default input format (mm/dd/yyyy), and has been fixed AFAIK in latest stable (3.44 / 4.0.4). Can you replicate on the 4.0 demo (might be specific to your own Membership Status rules or ??). http://d7.demo.civicrm.org

There have been a number of undefined index notices reported and fixed for 4.0.x since the release. Not sure if this one has been - but I did not see it w/ our sample Membership Signup Contrib page on our 4.0 demo: http://d7.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=2

Can you replicate it there? (Or it might be date format related and hopefully fixed).
