Invalid value for field(s) error attempting to import Activities custom fields
July 15, 2011, 05:57:01 am
I have added 2 Custom groups relating to all Activities. I am attempting to import data that maps some fields to standard activities fields and some to the custom fields.

The data mapped to standard activities fields goes through fine, but if I try to add a custom field I get "Invalid value for field(s) : field ID;"

If I try all five custom fields I get "Invalid value for field(s) : field ID; ; field ID; ; field ID; ; field ID; ;field ID;"

The custom fields are of various formats, date, text, select - and I am sure the data is not actually invalid for any of them..

Has anybody else had problems inporting to custom fields in Activities??

This is looking like a bug to me.

We did a large migration from our legacy system to Activities, both standard and custom fields, early in the year. We would have been somewhere around version 3.3.3 to 3.3.5 at that point.

Taking one of the same files through the same mapping now is just getting Invalid value errors for all the custom fields.

probably is a bug :( to double check, can you try to do a simple import on the demo server with activities

also would be great if you / your org can investigate and provide a patch that fixes the issue

Hi Gary,

I just came across this same bug, and submitted a bug report three days ago: issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-9151

Just heard this morning that the bug is now patched, so the next release should contain the fix.  Hope this helps you!

Excellent - thanks for reporting - and for the fix - tried it on 4.0.7 and it solved the problem.
