CiviReport - too much or not enough
July 15, 2011, 03:01:00 pm
One of the requests I keep getting is for more custom fields available on reports & to be able to group by them. I recently added the ability to agregate data by custom field to the pledge report & this turned out to be a very simple thing to do.

However, the requests we get are to be able to filter on Contact custom data as well and in general pledge report has pledge custom data exposed and contribution has contribution exposed. I can either:

1) change the report that ships with core so that contact related custom data is available on it as well as pledge related custom data
2) create a customised version for our client

#1 would be easier &  it's not the first time we've had this request but do people think it's a good thing or a bad thing?

i'd vote for #1 :)

however i suspect that u might need to improve the reporting framework to allow custom fields from different objects (pledge and contact) to be included in a report

Nope - it's as easy as editing an array!

But I hit a bigger problem which I  have logged for DeepakS's help after a brief communication with Dgg - the pledge report summary name/url/class  has been nicked by a report that should be called 'Pledge Detail'
