Can't get to the page where you sign a petition
July 16, 2011, 04:42:56 am
I set up a petition and everything looks okay to me. However, when I go to more -> sign from the petitions dashboard to get to the public signature page, I'm presented with the following error: img706.imageshack.us/img706/2269/screenshotcivicrm001err.png

I looked at the sample petition on your demo server and didn't see any difference in how they were set up (other than me not using an activity profile for the petition, but the demo works fine without one). It might be an issue with how CiviCRM is configured for me, in which case I'll do my best to answer questions related to that (I'm using CiviHosting and they set everything up for me).

I'm not sure. How do I do that? I didn't see any such option from looking at the petition settings or general administration settings.

You grant the permission at the same place as you give the others (access civicrm, view all contacts...).

I'm not sure where it is on joomla 1.6

I've messed with some Joomla settings to grant public permission to things, but there's no change. I'm not sure that's even it since I was able to create an event and have public registration of that beforehand.

Could it be something else?

Sorry, don't know joomla, can't help.

I'm assuming you have a superadmin user, is this working with it?

Nope. The only accounts that exist right now are super users, and I've only ever tried accessing the petition while logged in.

Strike what I said in my last post. I was only trying it while logged into the Joomla control panel, not CiviCRM. I can sign it as a super user while logged in to that. I still can't sign it as a general public visitor, though.

Aaaand I found the problem. Figures it happens within five minutes of looking through everything again.

For anyone who has this problem in the future, it was Joomla permissions, but it was the permissions you edit through CiviCRM. From CiviCRM, go to Administer -> Manage -> Access Control -> Joomla Access Control, then change "CiviCampaign: sign CiviCRM Petition" permissions for Public to allow.
