Exporting Custom Data
July 19, 2011, 08:28:09 pm
Hello Everyone: I am trying export records from CiviCRM, including some Custom Data fields. When I use the Select fields for export, and Fields to include in Export File, some Custom Data fields are listed for selection, while others are not included. Is there a way to have all Custom Data fields available for export?

Thanks. . .

Tony N.

Can you discover any pattern on what is not included? (for example repeating groups - custom fields that can hold more values?)

That makes sense....I seem to recall I also do not get repeating groups in some cases, but have not used the export yet. I think that was on the search builder...

other question would be if the fields are for Contacts, or Participants, or Contributions etc - not sure you should expect to find all these available from the same Export screen

Thank you to everyone who responded and added comments on my question on exporting CiviCRM Custom Data fields - here are some more details:

- All the records I am exporting are designated as a Contact Type of Individual.
- I am using the Export Contacts action shown when records are listed from a search. For example, I search all records with a Contact Type of Individual (or any contact type), and select the Export Contacts and Go. Is there another way to get at the Export function that might give me different results?
- I don't see a commonality in the Custom Data fields which are not appearing for selection. They are all Enabled; some are designated as Used For Individual, some for All Contact Types.
- As far as Search is concerned, I haven't checked them all, but I did find one field that was not appearing and which was not checked to be Searchable. I changed the field to be Searchable, but it still did not show up in the fields in the Export selection.

Thanks again. . .
