Export & merge contacts at same address
July 21, 2011, 02:32:16 am
Hi,

Can anyone confirm whether the export process gives strange merge results compared to mailing labels. The scenario we're seeing is:

The merge on the export process seems to merge using the 'street address' field only IE it ignores other address fields. This causes issues when people live at the same house name but different city/town?

Example:

contact 1: Mr X, The Old Manse, village a, city a, postcode a.
contact 2: Mr Y, The Old Manse, village b, city b, postcode b.

gets merged into one line on export but on mailing labels stays as two labels.

In this case we would expect these two records not to be merged because they have different addresses?

Is the export process only comparing the street address field?

We've had a supporter contact us saying we'd added a random person into their house which brought this to light.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Dave
