Error when installing
July 22, 2011, 07:44:48 am
Trying a complete reinstall after my first attempt failed.  I'm getting the following errors when trying to install from the URL.....

HTTP error 1 occurred when trying to fetch http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.0.4/civicrm-4.0.4-drupal.tar.gz/download.

Unable to retrieve Drupal project from http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.0.4/civicrm-4.0.4-drupal.tar.gz/download.

How are you installing? Are you following the instructions here http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Installation+and+Upgrades ?

You can not install CiviCRM as you do a regular Drupal module.

Following the instructions here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Drupal+Installation+Guide+for+CiviCRM+4.0

Stuck on step 3.

I would recommend then that you do this step manually, i.e. get the zip file from the URL listed in step 3 and upload it to sites/all/modules

Hopefully you can then unzip it on your server. If not, then unzip it first and then upload to that location.

I am also having trouble with this, in Drupal 7 both when using the URL and when downloading the tar file and uploading it.

I did just try the old-school method of downloading, extracting, and moving the folder to the modules folder and that did work. Not sure why the methods outlined in the instructions did not work though.

A server error (your host server, that is) can cause the automatic fetch process to fail.

I have the same problem (using LunarPages for hosting), so I will try the long way as suggested.
