Setting up CiviMail on Windows 2003
January 24, 2008, 04:09:39 am
As an update just fixed a bug I was experiencing in CiviMail, I've only now been able to properly look into the configuration required for the deployment I'm working on. Since it's running on a Windows 2003 server, I won't be able to use Postfix so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a free IMAP server for Windows, and let me know if the alternative configuration method in the docs would work on Windows. There's also an Exchange server on the same network if that's any help.

Thanks.

hmailserver is a great open source mail server for windows that supports imap.  Very easy to setup and use.

Thanks Woyzeck, that's really useful as I just found out that I won't be able to use the Exchange server I mentioned as it's not on the same domain.

I ran into a problem and have given up installing CiviMail on a Windows machine.  I was trying to use the IMAP2SOAP perl script which I have working on a centos machine.  The problem with windows is that the required perl modules don't exist for windows.  I think that a request can be put in at the Active State website, however, how long would we wait?

Personally, I prefer working on linux as I run into fewer problems, but I have a windows machine here at work. :(
