How to translate custom fields?
July 27, 2011, 06:32:26 pm
Hi guys,

I get that translating custom fields is possible -
I saw a word about it in the pdf manual and saw people relating to having translated their custom fields, but I can't figure out how that is done.

Can someone please enlighten me on this?  :)

Thanks!
Yosi

What do you mean by "translating custom fields"?

Hi Erik and thanks for your reply.

I mean translating labels of custom fields in order to make them multilingual.

I've defined them in English but for those that want the Interface in another language, I want the custom field labels to appear in that other language for them.

I guessed that is what you wanted. As far as I know that is handled in the code rather than in the label of the field....but I have never done it and there will be others who have....

Custom field labels can be set in different languages if you have the multi-language feature enabled. Some info here:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Multilingual+fields

The setting is at the bottom of the Localisation form (Global Settings section).

Thanks for the pointer Dave - I will decode what that all means :)
