Separate/Remove currency info when exporting data as CSV

One of our clients exported a contribution report as a CSV file and was trying to sum a currency field in the report.  However because the field contains the currency symbol it does not sum up and produces an error or zero value (tested in Excel and OpenOffice and CiviCRM 4.0 / Drupal 7 Demo).

Removing the symbol altogether allows them to sum but it does mean some information is lost (this is the simplest solution that we would like to submit a patch for).

We could always move the currency to a separate column (this is what happens in the find contributions export).  This is a bit more complex but perhaps not that difficult with a bit of help.

What do you guys think?

Not sure how hard it would be, but putting in separate column seems like a good solution. I suspect folks w/ multiple currencies would want to be able to sort the rows by currency to get subtotals etc.
