Offline contribution and paper receipt for contacts with no email

Hi,

When you do an offline contribution and the contact has an email address you get the option to send a receipt email.

However, when they don't have an email address you obviously can;t send the email but there is no way at that time to tick a box to print a hard copy receipt?

Would we just need to run a query for contributions that have not received a receipt at the end of the day and then do a bulk PDF output for all the hard copy receipts?

I'm just thinking of the scenario as well where someone walks into the building with a donation, we might want to print the receipt there and then, so do we just add the contribution then have to do a separate action or how easy would it be to have the send receipt option change to print receipt tickbox when there is no email address?

ok, so you can search for the contributions that have not been sent receipts and there is an action to 'print or email receits' that is great but it doesn't flag the contributions as having been sent one after print, do we need to go back and do an update via profile to set the receipt date/time once printed?

Maybe an option on the print screen to say 'Mark contributions as having received a receipt'?

We have a simiar situation with people sending in event registrations.  There is no coding expertise in our organisation and no access to the code anyway as it is hosted off-site so we came up with this way to deal with it.

  • Create an email account called "noemail@yoursite.com"
  • Set strict duplicate match to include email, last name, first initial and post code
  • When someone without an email address sends in an event registration or a donation, give them the email address noemail@yoursite.com.
  • Print off and mail out the receipts at suitable intervals.  (Email template has been modified to always show postal address)

They aren't nicely formatted PDFs as we have had to turn that feature off because of the WSOD, but for now it is a work around that shows they have been sent a receipt. We also don't need someone with access to civicrm to print out and post the emails.   

We would definitely be interested in a more elegant solution within civicrm.
