Error page after about 20 sec running installation script
July 30, 2011, 09:58:04 am
Hi,

I'm following this installation guide:
wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Drupal+Installation+Guide+for+CiviCRM+4.0

In Step 5 I get all greens and press Check Requirements and Install CiviCRM

After about 20 sec the installation process stops.

There's no error code on the error page and I can't get to any webserver logs  ??? but my guess has been that it timeouts. That's why I started searching for a timeout fix and so I tried:

  • To add ini_set('max_execution_time', 240); in default/settings.php
  • Installing and running this: drupal.org/node/1155336

Neither resulted in any change regarding execution time before failure.

Any ideas!?

It's hard to say without an error message, but a WSOD can be a CPU timeout, or a RAM overload, or potentially even another issue.

If you are on shared hosting, adding code to increase the CPU timeout generally won't help because most shared hosts don't allow you to override that setting.

If it won't install, you will need to ask your hosting support if they can tell you the error message that should be on the server logs.

Thanx, Hershel,

I couldn't get a log from my webhost so I simply changed to another host and now it installed in one go, it didn't need much more than 20 seconds.

So let's see what the little baby can do...  8)
