Members can see others Household Address
July 30, 2011, 01:21:12 pm
I have synced  Members on civiCRM to Druapl users.
I did this to allow members to login and update their profiles.

I notice that logged-in users can view all the Household addresses. This violates our privacy practice.
How do I stop logged-in users from searching the Household addresses.
Trying ACL

i think you will need to provide more information as to what steps users are taking to 'see' all household addresses

I created a few civicrm individuals. Then I made these civicrm contacts as Drupal users by using the Drupal Feeds module.
Now when the Drupal user logs in he can edit the address details in the civicrm address.

At this point I do not want the user to 'see' addresses that addresses of other civicrm contacts. However, when updating the address if the logged in user selects "Use household  Address" then the field lists out all the household addresses stored.

1) How do I stop the other addresses loading up which allows the option to select the address
2) If we somehow disable the "Use Household Address" then there seems to be no way where the user can put the contact in a household.

But point (1) is more important.

It sounds to me like you might be giving people access to the CiviCRM module rather than letting contacts only access fields containing their data via Profiles.
Have you read the chapters around Data and Configuration in the Understanding CiviCRM book eg http://en.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/ch012_profiles/

Also, would be useful to know how you found using the Feeds module - generally we just use the User Import module to create a Drupal User record for each CiviCRM record.

Petednz,
You are right. I  was "giving people access to the CiviCRM module rather than letting contacts only access fields containing their data via Profiles."
I am considering Profiles as you suggested.

About Feeds module: Feeds module is more generic for import. But it did meet my basic need of importing users to Drupal. It does not have the features as found in User Import, for example, sending automated emails when accounts are created.
User Import and Node Import modules do not have a Drupal 7 version. So I had to chose Feeds.
The developer of Node Import has metnioned that "It is likely there will not be a Drupal 7 version of Node import as the Feeds module provides similar functionality (or even better, e.g. updating content) and has more active developers."
So I went ahead and added this info in the wiki (confluence)
Please see "What do I need to do this?" section in http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Creating+a+Drupal+user+for+every+CiviCRM+contact Let me know if this was not required.
