Joomla 1.7 /CiviCRM 4.0 Upgrade...need more details (RESOLVED)

In step 1, it states "Upload this file to your JOOMLA_1.6.x_ROOT/tmp/ .  Unzipping will create a directory called: com_civicrm."

TWO QUESTIONS:  1) I have a directory called jUpgrade with a tmp subdirectory.  Is this what the instructions are referring to?  2) How does Unzipping happen once at the site?  I have only done this using software on my computer prior.   Written in the passive, it implies that it will happen without action, but I'm guessing they really want me to DO something here.

Background...I've been running CiviCRM with minimal success and decided to upgrade to see if it was just a buggy version.  So I upgraded Joomla to 1.7 and now can't see my CiviCRM module.  I'm not freaking about that yet.

Hope you can help.  Thanks!

Yes

Hopefully you have a control panel which can do that for you. It doesn't happen automatically--you must unzip it. Worst case scenario is you will have to unzip in your PC and then upload. Yes, we want you to DO something. :)

CiviCRM should have disappeared when you upgraded to 1.7 but it will come back when you reinstall. Your data should NOT be lost.

Thank you so much!  It's only been a few days and I feel much more in control of all of this.  I'm now struggling with the cron job for mass mailings.  been peeling back this onion (while crying a bit) and haven't gotten to the core yet.  I've asked some questions in the mailing forum, but it really seemed to be an installation question.  I just found the script (civimail.chronjob.php) in the developer's tools, which was apparently missing from my server, and uploaded it.   And I've changed the path in the nice little tool at the cPanel so the cron job can find the script.   I know I'm missing something (maybe a lot) since I didn't change anything (yet) in the script.  Any help you can offer is again very appreciated.

Happy to help but I don't know what the issue is now exactly. Post more details.

This one was fixed with some help from folks at Data Scribe. User name in the cron job and other key details were not accurate.  Nice to have this finally working!  Thanks for your offer of help...but my ability to even describe the problem was a bit lacking.
