Can't access civicrm after fresh install
August 01, 2011, 12:08:41 pm
Hello all,

I'm working on a new website. I've installed drupal 7.7 without any problem. Now I've added CiviCRM 4.0.4. I get to the "CiviCRM has been successfully installed" screen without a problem. I could also configure all the permissions. However, the link to the Configuration Checklist" (mysite/index.php?q=civicrm/admin/configtask&reset=1) doesn't work (page not found) and within my Drupal I only get a link to "Civicrm engage settings" (mysite/?q=en/admin/settings/civicrm_engage that doesn't work and no link to civicrm as I used to have it on other installs (with Drupal 7 and Civicrm 3.4).

Any idea what might have gone wrong?

Is your Drupal using multiple languages? Perhaps try mysite/index.php?q=en/civicrm/admin/configtask&reset=1

Yes, it's multilingual, but the link you provide doesn't work either. I just get a "page not found" error...

Yessss...

Except that none of the links that appear normally in the header is there (just the search field).

Is this linked to the fact that I have a multilingual Dupal install and that some path is not properly configured?

It would certainly appear to be. Look at the Net tab of Firebug (in Firefox) and see if any JS or CSS files are not found.

Somehow the top menu now appears (I didn't do anything except reloading it. However, the links don't work yet. For example I get
mysite/index.php?q=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1 and always have to take off the "en". I guess that this is linked to the  base url which now is http://mysite/en/ and should probably be just http://mysite/ . However, I can not save this.

If I check civicrm.settings.php, the file system paths are all properly set. Is there a way to set the base url directly in the database?

(Based on the net tab, all files are properly loaded).

I also cannot seen to find CiviCRM and I get a laundry list of errors.  These errors also appeared during the installation process while civiCRM was installing it's self.  Some where it said that if an errors occur simply reload the screen.  I did and the installation finished and was said to be a success.  but now there is no where to access civicrm in my drupal instance.

Strict warning: Declaration of CRM_Core_DAO::factory() should be compatible with that of DB_DataObject::factory() in require_once() (line 46 of

There are close to 30 of those errors when i go to any page that has something to do with civiCRM on it, ie. Drupal permissions.

I had a similar problem... CiviCRM "successfully installed" but the /civicrm page "was not found".  Turns out I simply needed to flush the cache in Drupal!  Everything worked after that.

Well, in my case, flushing the cache didn't work, but I had no error messages during the install. I'm quite convinced it must be linked to the fact that it's a multilingual site since when I remove the "en" in the link to civicrm (ie in http://interaxis.net/en/index.php?q=civicrm/admin/configtask&reset=1) it works.

Simon147, if that link works, then what is the problem? The menu item doesn't appear automatically? You could just add it manually if that's the issue.

Actually, the link works as long as I take off the "en" (or other language reference). To permanently change this, I would have to change the base url. I can access the site with the base url and I can modify it there, but I can't save it.

Can you change it in settings.civicrm.php and also set config_backend to NULL in civicrm_domain in MySQL?

Actually, in settings.civicrm.php, the base url is correct. In civicrm_domain, there is currently no URL specified.

When I go to mysite/index.php?q=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1, it even gives the correct base url under "Old Base URL", but ads below a "New Base URL" which is wrong.

I've managed to solve the problem though: In Drupal's language configuration, I've taken off the "Path prefix language code" (en), then flushed the Drupal and CiviCRM cache (http://www.journeymm.com/blogs/drupal/clearing-civicrm-cache)  and the links work now.

Could someone else try to reproduce an install of CiviCRM in a multilingual system with path prefixes. If my problem can be reproduced, it might be useful to have a more detailed look into it.
