How to make Contact Address = CC Billing Address?
January 24, 2008, 04:40:29 pm
I've set up contribution and event registration pages in CiviCRM 1.9 on Joomla 1.0.13.  All works well, except that the name and address information collected in the "Billing Name and Address" section of a civiContribute page doesn't show up in the contact's record.  So, I added profiles that collect the same information that appear on the page before the Billing section.

This strikes me as the right approach (someone could use a company card with the bosses' name on it, etc.), but it seems to mean users have to type their info twice -- once for civiCRM's database and contact management, and the other for PayPal (we're using PayPal Pro).  Or does it?  The Billing fields aren't indicated as required, but isn't that where the info for PayPal's verification comes from?

I'd settle for a way to automatically copy the values from one field into the other, but I'm certain you guys are smarter than me, and there's a protocol or logic that I'm just not finding in the documentation or forums.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Lou

The Billing Name and Address values should be getting written to the "Billing" location in the contact record... Also, they're not marked required since the contributor has the option to use the PP Express button from that form  - in which case they don't fill in the billing address info on your site.

If that's not the behavior you're seeing - can you try a replicate your problem on the Drupal demo:
http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&action=preview&id=1

... that contribution page uses PayPal Pro.

Thanks for the quick response.  That is, indeed, the behavior I'm seeing, so there's no bug involved, except, maybe, the flaws in my own thinking. :-)  Thanks again!
