After Upgrade, Templates Don't Work Properly
August 05, 2011, 10:38:41 am
I just upgraded an installation of CiviCRM 3.4 (and Drupal 6) to CiviCRM 4.0.4 (and Drupal 7.7) and now my Message Templates don't seem to work properly. I can go into "Mailings => Message Templates" and they all appear fine, but when I go to a contact, select the "Send Email" action and then select a template from the drop-down menu, the title fills properly from the template, but the message itself doesn't. Also, when I click on "insert tokens", the pop-up appears, but when I select a token, it doesn't show up in either the plaintext or HTML composition areas.

Help?

Why did you upgrade to 4.0.4 and not latest stable which is 4.0.5? Which wysiwyg editor are you using? If you have firefox, can you check your error console for errors?

Be sure to remove all directories and/or files in sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c and also clear Drupal's caches and then use shift-refresh to clear our own browser caches.

Then try again. :)

Thanks for the two replies... here's an update:

  • I've upgraded to 4.0.5 now
  • Removed the files in the templates_c directory
  • flushed the drupal caches TWICE
  • forced a browser refresh

Also, I'm running TinyMCE as the WYSIWYG editor.

I just tried again and get same thing... I can select the template from the drop-down menu but it doesn't fill in the text area below.

In firebug console, I can see that selecting something from the template drop down is sending a http post and getting back a proper reply, but not putting it into the text field. When I try 'insert Token" for the body text, I get another post, but nothing appears and no errors. I only get an error when I try to "insert token" into the subject line, and that error is:

Code: [Select]
"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://www.interpscan.ca/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/jquery/jquery-ui-1.8.11/css/custom-theme/images/ui-bg_flat_40_70716b_40x100.png"

Can you replicate this on http://d7.demo.civicrm.org and if you are able to replicate please file a bug report in issue tracker.
