Questions about setting up the imap2soap install
January 25, 2008, 01:04:01 pm
Sorry I know I'm in over my head here:

first I'm using Joomla, I noticed that there was a question of whether or not this even works.

1. First I have a hosted account so I think that pretty much puts me in the Alternative install path

2. My provider does not allow "catch all" email addys so that leaves me to use filters to get this working. In the documentation it gives me the option of setting up:

"a virtual-regexp or equivalent filter to specifically forward emails with a valid CiviMail VERP format to a valid e-mail address"

Using Cpanel11 I have mail filters that apply to my entire account and on of the options is: regexp which I can forward to the civimail@[domain.com] that I have setup. I just don't know how to actually setup the filter part.

So far I have been able to install all the mentioned modules so i think that if I can get the filter thingy working I'll be golden. (yeah right!)

thanks all!

If you’re looking for the right patterns to match against for the filter, they’re right there on the wiki page. This are the addresses that match CiviMail-bound mail:

Code: [Select]
/^(bounce|confirm|optOut|reply|subscribe|unsubscribe|resubscribe)\..*@example\.com$/ civimail@example.com

If you’re looking for a program that you could filter the incoming mail through (instead of using imap2soap), you’re best bet would be to read this topic and start from there.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
