Error in Autocomplete-Select Field

Hello,


We've noticed that the Autocomplete-Select field type will not work correctly when used on a profile and exposed to the Joomla frontent.  The page this displays on requires the user to login first, so it should be able to find CiviCRM and return a list of matching contacts.  In the Profile preview in the backend, it works.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think auto-complete won't work for anonymous user due to permission issue.

I thought this was taken care of with the new 4.0.x version for J1.6 and 1.7?  Exposing things like this to the front end of Joomla, as you probably already know, is very helpful.

any specific reason you thought that was fixed in the new 4.0.x series?

As you probably already know, CiviCRM depends on code and $$$ contributions from the community to make things happen :) There is a related MIH for this for 4.1:

But exposing the contact ref field and exposing contacts without permisisons is NOT part of that MIH. If you'd like to extend the scope and your org can help fund development (or code)  of that feature, it would be great and appreciated. I suspect its another 10+ hours of additional development

Hey Lobo,


I might have gotten it confused with the Joomla ACL MIH that was done for the 4.0.x releases.

This will have to be on our wishlist and see if we can participate in the future.  We are tapped out right now and do not have in-house developers.
