Personal Campaign Pages Issues
August 09, 2011, 01:36:32 am
Hi
I'm setting up Personal Campaign pages but there are various niggles that I'd like to understand:

1. When a user creates a page they get told that the admin needs to approve the page (fine). They are then given a summary page where they can edit their page while they wait. The link to update their details gets a CiviCRM-001 error saying "Supporter profile is not set for this Personal Campaign Page or the profile is disabled. Please contact the site administrator if you need assistance." -The profile is set in the PCP tab of the contribution page (as the default supporter profile, in this case). That profile is active (in fact, they filled it out to get there).

2. They then get an email which has an odd link in it - it says "You can still preview your page prior to approval:

    Login to your account
    Click this link"

With both of things being hyperlinks. The first takes you to com_login - but if you are logged in just to an empty page.
The second takes you back to editing your PCP. I think both of these descriptions could do with a tweak as it wasn't obvious to me (as someone who understands the difference between Joomla and Civi) what these links where for or why.

3. The email sent to the administrator seems to be in a pretty funny format and the link "Manage Personal Campaign Pages" gets a CRM001- You're not authorised to view this page link: both when I'm not logged in at all, but also when I am logged in as a superuser. Where is it supposed to take me?

4. When approved the email that the individual gets has the same issues as at 2.

All four of these look like bugs, but if any are due to user stupidity, please let me know. In particular, for the user email receipt(s) it would be useful to know where the template was so that I could edit it for a fix today, which I'll submit as a patch if others agree that the wording isn't as helpful as it could be.

Your forum profile shows you are using Joomla 1.7, currently CiviCRM does not suport this version of Joomla.

Yes, #1, #2, #3 and #4 might be bug in CiviCRM, but can you first confirm it on http://j16.demo.civicrm.org and if you are able to replicate it please file a bug report in issues tracker.

Thanks
Kurund

Kurund, when will civicrm be compatible with 1.7? Not knowing any differently, I installed 1.7 in order to use civicrm.

Does this also mean that I should not bother updating civicrm to 4.0.5 because I'm incompatible as it is?

We think (and hope) that CiviCRM 4.0.x works out of the box with J1.7. We've had a few users install it and it does seem to work.

However, we dont have the resources to actively support J1.7 right now. Hopefully it will be similar to J1.6 and things will work as normal :)

There are a few PCP related issues which are also present in J1.6 which will be fixed in the next release

Hi, yes I am using J1.7.0 and CiviCRM 4.0.5 and I have spotted only a few issues all of which appear to be general bugs with Civi (e.g. the PCP stuff) rather than a failure to work (although the upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.0.5 seemed to work a bit differently to before, particularly since I don't run Civi out of the db as Joomla).

So while I appreciate that strictly speaking I'm running Civi on an unsupported version of Joomla, it's not generally an issue.

Anyway, I shall investigate the j16 demo and report back when I can.

Thanks.
