Help in using CiviEvent for Box Office
August 10, 2011, 01:13:13 pm
Hello,

My theatre company has tasked me, the audience development/box office manager, with finding and setting up a new box office system. Most things are far outside of our budget, but I stumbled across CiviCRM and am currently trying to set it up in a test version in 3.4 before we commit to it enough to purchase better webhosting that could support the 4.0 version. However, I'm not exactly a technical person by trade, so I'm having some trouble wading through the setup and adjustments to get things to run the way we'd like. I have been looking through the forums for answers but I can't seem to figure out exactly what to do on a few things.

Mainly, (in what I see is not the first time this has been asked on these forums,) how do I make it such that multiple participants don't have to add individual names, etc, and will tally up properly for ticketing purposes? And further, how can I do that with the application of multiple ticket types (I assume these would be set up under the price set? ie student ticket, senior ticket) under one registration?

Is there an option I am not seeing somewhere that would help me with this? Or is it only available in 4.0? Or is there some additional component we would need for that?

Also, we would want the "Notes" section entered during event registration to display on our registration reports. How would one go about doing that?

Thanks!

Hershel

I think both of these can be handled by using price sets. Let the person purchase 4 tickets, instead of having them register four participants. You may need custom reporting then for the number of tickets and types sold. I actually did such for a theatre in NYC.

Could be you can do this with Views. Should be able to.
