View Contacts ACL
August 10, 2011, 08:00:06 pm
Probably an easy one, but it has me stumped right now.

Setting up an ACL for chapters so that they can only view contacts of their particular chapter. The problem I am having is with the drupal permissions for the user.

If I select the drupal permission 'View All Contacts' fpr the user this overrides the ACL, and the user can view contacts for every chapter, but if I don't select it, there is no contact tab available when they login. How do they then search the contacts?

Finally tracked it down.

For some reason, when I synced Drupal Users to Civicrm Contacts it was creating a new Civicrm Contact even though there was already a contact with the same name and e-mail address.

This meant the contact I had assigned to the role, didn't actually a drupal user account, and the account I was logging in under didn't have a civicrm ACL role.

Strange. Anyway, it's sorted.

Anyone have any ideas what might have caused the mess up on the drupal / civi user / contact sync?

Brian

My contacts were all in place though an import.

I'll check into the duplicate matching rules - that might be the cause of it.
