Contact Dashboard - what is it supposed to do?
January 27, 2008, 01:28:03 pm
Whenever I click on View Contact Dashboard for a member (v 1.9) I get a message: "You are not currently subscribed to any groups". Of course this member is a member of several groups, which I can see in the Groups tab. What is the Contact Dashboard supposed to display?

It's supposed to provide a summary of Groups, Contributions, Memberships,  and Event Registrations - depending on which components are enabled - AND depending on how you have configured your Global Settings >> Site Preferences

You can see an example w/ all of the above on the public 1.9 demo:
http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/user?reset=1

.. and see the page where you can control which blocks are include at:
http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display?reset=1

All these options are enabled in the preferences for the Contact Dashboard but all I get is the message I reported on first. Only CiviMail is enabled so far on our site.

Group memberships in groups whose Visibility is "User and User Admin Only" (i.e. non-public groups) are not shown on the Contact Dashboard. Can you check the visibility (under Manage Groups >> Settings) for the group(s) that are NOT displaying on the dashboard for that contact?

Separately... in case this is a question for you... Contributions, Memberships and Events will NOT be shown in the Contact Dashboard if the corresponding component is not enabled on your site. This is true regardless of the Site Preferences. They will also be suppressed if that contact doesn't have permissions for that object (e.g. "make online contributions", "register for events", etc.).

Finally got back to this.

Your latest answer explained it all. All of our groups are "User and User Admin" only

Thanks
