can't collect additional email(s) during event registration

hi there

I'm not able to collect additional email during the event registration (in "Events"). I'm using CiviCRM 4.0.5.

I have a CiviCRM Profile called "Registration Information" select for "Include Profile" and it has the following fields:

  • First Name (Individual)
  • Last Name (Individual)
  • Company Name (Individual)
  • Email (Main) (Contact)
  • Phone (Contact)
  • Job Title (Individual)
  • Street Address (Contact)
  • City (Contact)
  • State (Contact)
  • Zip Code (Contact)

If I preview the profile, the email field shows up fine, however when I actually try the event registration process it does not show up.

I tried adding a "Nick Name" field to the "Registration Information" profile, and that showed up just fine.

I'm guessing there's something special about email fields, where they only allow one.

Is this true? Is there any good way to collect a second email address during the event registration?

I do have a custom template for the registration form, but I've looked though it a couple of times and I can not see anything I'm missing.

Let me know if there's any additional information that you need.

yes, this is a feature / bug in the system. For historic reasons, email has been considered special and hence is collected by the system and stripped from any profiles

Would be great to fix this issue and let folks add email if needed via a profile and then do the email receipts etc based on an email being entered (or suppress if not)
