CiviCRM upgrade on drupal, 404 error not solvable following docs.
August 14, 2011, 05:14:40 am
Hi everybody.

I am in the process of upgrading from CiviCRM 3.0.x to the latest stable on Drupal.

I religiously followed the docs: when upgrading drupal from 6 to 7, i left the CiviCRM module checked.

After the upgrade, though, it was disabled by the sistem and impossible to re-enable (instead of the checkbox, in the drupal modules page, there was a big red X and, in the module description, the message "This version is not compatible with Drupal 7.x and should be replaced.")

I tried the upgrade anyway, backed up and uploaded the new version.

On /civicrm/upgrade?reset=1 I got an unsurprising 404, so I tried following the troubleshooting guide here

wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+4.0#UpgradeDrupalSitesto4.0-PageNotFounderror (Sorry, I am not allowed to post external links)

but to no avail: as soon as I changed the module with the older version, i had the same message by drupal: "This version is not compatible with Drupal 7.x and should be replaced.", and wasn't able to restore it.

Any help would be appreciated.

One possible explanation is, the feature to disable by default uncompatible modules in drupal has been added after the documentation was written.

Can anyone confirm this?
