Expanding the CiviCRM feature set (UK Government funding possibility)
January 28, 2008, 05:38:40 am
Dear CiviCRM development team,

I work as an ICT advisor within the UK not for profit sector (based within the Greater Manchester area) working for Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation.

We have been for the last year been investigating commercial software which is available for non profit membership based organisations in the UK. This is mainly for organisations who support / develop other non profit organisations (in the UK we would call these infrastructure organisations). The commercial software which is currently available for these infrastructure organisations is expensive and not particularly appropriate.

We think that we are in a strong position to recieve funding from the UK government which will allow extra features to be developed for the CiviCRM system. This could be case management (i.e. development workers working with member organisations), training course management, contact management + and performance reporting functionality. From our perspective we would be enabling a large number of UK and worldwide based organisations, who currently pay large sums of money for poor software, to access the CiviCRM open source solution.

Can I ask at this stage if you would be interested in this partnership approach?

Hi (I don't belong to the dev team),

There is a mailing list to discuss the case management new feature lead by Michelle Murrain to the NOSI
https://lists.mayfirst.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nosi-civicrm

And there is already some feature on the public sandbox: http://sandbox.civicrm.org/

Could you detail the features you find missing and you have in mind ?

Hi

I will do my best to put a list together this week.
Thanks for the advice on the case management feature.

You'll want to get in touch with lobo on the partnership stuff. lobo at  yahoo  com
CiviCRM has had significant functionality funded by customers and donors, so that should not be a problem.

You'll also want to check out the case management working group:
