Checkboxes Needed in Adv Search for Event Type
August 17, 2011, 11:29:58 am
We need to search on all event attendees to a number of event types (but exclude some). (I'm using Civi 3.4.4/D6).

For an example, this is the question I'm trying to answer:

How many people attended W events, X events, Y events, Z events (but not V events) in the last year?

Yes, I could do a bunch of separate searches and put them together in Excel. But doing one search would be ideal.

We'd also like to see the same option on the “find Participants” screen.

I noticed that Eileen has done this before before, but perhaps it's not part of Civi core yet? http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=3199.0  Are there plans for it to be?

The 'Event Aggregate' custom search that Eileen developed is included in the distribution. The Participant Report and Event Income reports include multi-select on event type (and Group By) - so might do the trick for you.

No plans currently to make Event Type a multi-select on Find Participants / Advanced Search (which share code for the participant criteria). I think a multi-select of the type we already have for Contact Type, Group, etc. (crmasmSelect widget) would be a nice addition - altho I'm not sure how important the existing autocomplete UI is (i.e. do some orgs have hundreds of event types?). If you're up for contributing a patch - ping us on IRC. Would encourage you to do a quick blog post 1st to see if folks have compelling arguments about retaining the autocomplete interface.

The "Find Totals for Events" does have the event type as a check box list which is cool. However, it appears to only work for retrieving payments
