Relationship field in New Contact form
August 17, 2011, 06:13:11 pm
Hello there,

I would like to construct a form where I can create a relationship as part of entering a new contact.  The catch is that I don't want it to be 'employer' (which, of course, does this automatically).

The idea would be to have a set of custom fields like:
Institution (text field, drop down, etc.)
Relationship (create relationship with the above institution)
Position (director, researcher, etc.)

I realise creating a relationship with an institution that doesn't necessarily exist yet in the database for a contact that hasn't yet been saved either is problematic, but that's what I want!

I guess I'm trying to work out how to create something to perform the same function as the 'employer' field, without any custom programming.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
