Drupal account email change does not reflect in CiviCRM contact record

In D6, Civi 3, a change to the Drupal account email address also changed the email in the Civi contact record, and vice-versa (a change to the email in a civi contact record changes the Drupal account email).

This same behavior is not happening in D7, Civi 4. Is this a bug or a decisive change to functionality?

pretty sure this is a bug. Would be great f you can investigate and submit a patch. Can you reproduce this on the demo server and see the behavior there

Please file an issue for this. I suspect someone will patch this for a future 4.x release

Issue does occur on the demo site.
