Similiar Situation with an import
January 28, 2008, 01:33:30 pm
We thought we imported all the data we needed from our old system.  Now we  realized that there are a couple of fields that did not come over.

I have tried to import and update but i keep getting error messages and I dont know what I am doing wrong.  I am matching my external id and the data of the field that I am missing. What am I doing wrong!  Help quick!

An answer would require more information. What error messages are you getting?

It says that the information is already in the system.  Ok let mw tell you exactly what I have done.  I upload the CSV file I then map the fields and then it tells me the information was not imported.  The external contact id is already in the file.

Based on the information you have supplied, it suggests you have not choosen Update on this line of the first import screen:
For Duplicate Contacts    Skip Update Fill No Duplicate Checking

It may also be that you have not set up the contact matching to key on the external id field in the settings:

im using 1.9 on ubuntu 7
im using a csv file (that is def UTF-8)
Import gets to step 4 and simply returns back to the menu.
I see this is a documented bug
can anyone give me the sql statement to insert new individuals so that I can manually import until this is repaired ?
Much appreciation ...

can you please replicate your situation on the sandbox server and if so, file an issue

the sql to insert an individual is a bit complicated and there is composed of multiple sql statements

thanx
