impossible to install under joomla 1.5.23 and 1.6
August 28, 2011, 04:22:14 am
After i`ve lost almost one week and I think that civicrm is impossible to install under joomla. I did every step I found on this formun, on joomla forum and other hundred forums.

first I have changed the SQL engine to innoDB.
I have modified my ini.php for 64MB, register globall=off, max execution time=600
I`ve delete my joomla website, and put back again other versions (1.5.22, 1.5.23, and 1.6). For joomla 1.5 I have installed civivrm 3.4.0 and 3.4.5 and for joomla 1.6 - civicrm 4.0.4 and 4.0.5
I`ve run the SQl query for fixing version

The message it`s the same in any configuration. When I install for the first time I receive the ok message: Component install ok, but when I acces the component from the joomla admin components-civiCRM this is the message "Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.DB Error: constraint violation" and after that a link "error details" without content.

If I unistall the component from joomla backend (and delete the com_civicrm folder from component and also from admin/components) and reinstall again, the message is something "upgrade successfuly", but the same error message.

Somebody have installed this CRM under joomla or is just a legend? The crm ideea inside joomla is verry god, but pity that not real work.

I presume you realize that's a silly question. CiviCRM has been installed thousands of times in Joomla. I myself have installed in 1.5.x, 1.6 and 1.7.

Does your MySQL support InnoDB?

If yes, then do view source of the error page and post the contents so we can see the error--there is an error there, it's just hidden.

I did it. I have a new, clean install Joomla + civicrm. Maybe someone need to know how I solve.

For the virtual server where will be installed, you must setup php script runtime to unlimited. (FCGId mode).

Also in php configuration (for debian/free bsd users home/user/etc/php5/php.ini) you must set:
Maximum memory allocation = 256;
Maximum file upload size=64;
Maximum input parsing time=1200;
Maximum HTTP POST size=64 (must be egual with maximum file upload size)

In mysql config must set default table storage engine   to innoDB

Now I don`t know how to use civicrm for contact list in FRONT end. In Joomla back end I have a lot of options, but I need a contact list for easy view in front. With details, edit view, detail view, list view. I think this crm it is not for something like this, it`s not orientated to manage contacts lists, but it`s great for campains, donations, etc.  If i`m wrong, and I did not discover how to display and manage contacts in front end, please corect me.

Thank you
