Grant non-administrators read-only access to text & advanced search
August 28, 2011, 03:57:02 pm
Is there a way to allow a select group of users (the Board of Directors of our organization) read-only access to the text & advanced search features?  I'll eventually be setting up specific reports non-admin users will be able to run (once they get off their butts and define what they want / need...   ::)  ), but I'm getting pressure now from a few of them for database access.

This seems like something that would be possible, but I cannot figure out how to do it.  Any help would be much appreciated...

Thanks!

if you do not have a lot of directors, the easiest solution is:

1. give all of them a drupal role

2. grant this role only view all contacts permission.

3. restrict other permissions to this role based on what you think / know they need

alternatively you can use ACL's to restrict them to "view only access" on a smaller set of contacts
