Try to install CiviCRM module, /nothing happens/?
August 28, 2011, 05:45:00 pm
I've got a clean Debian install with the drupal7 package (from squeeze-backports), which appears to function properly. I'm trying to install the CiviCRM 4.0.5 Drupal tarball. From "Install New Modules", I can either give a SourceForge URL or upload the tarball myself.

No URL I give succeeds -- I get things like an "error 1", which I confess I have no idea how to interpret -- and if I directly upload the tarball from my desktop after a few seconds my screen blinks and I'm still on "Install New Modules". No error, but no CiviCRM module in the module list, active or otherwise. Attempts to navigate to the installer in the /sites/all path fail.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

Skipping the install-via-panel option and manually creating sites/all, sites/all/modules, and unzipping the tarball seems to have gotten me going.

If you manually created sites/all/modules/ and put in there civicrm, then visit

mysite.com/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php

That's how you must install CiviCRM.
