New Administrator cannot see CiviCRM menu
August 29, 2011, 04:02:53 am
Hi all!

We just installed our CiviCRM on top of Drupal and intended to add an additional administrator. But whatever I do, the new admin can login to the Drupal site, but doesn't see the CiviCRM menu at all.

Here is what I have done:

1. Logged in using the Administrator which has been created upon installation.
2. Created a new Drupal user. That user is supposed to become the new administrator. I gave that user a password, profile information, etc.
3. Used the "Synchronize Users to Contacts" option. It said "No new contacts added", but the number of Drupal user / contacts looks reasonable.

Did I miss a step?

Regards,
Torsten

1. Can you give more information about your install, CiviCRM version ( Are you using 3.3, if yes why ? )
2. Can you try clearing your drupal and civicrm cache
3. Can you try logout / login

Hi Kurund!

1. I looked it up again. We're on 3.2.3. But I am sure that also in this version it should be possible to add an administrator. The installation was done a while ago but now we have people who want to start using it.

2. I have no idea how to clear either the Drupal or CiviCRM cache. I cannot find any menu items like that.

3. I have logged on and off several times, this isn't the problem.

Regards,
Torsten

Can you check if your logged in user has "administer CiviCRM" permission. CiviCRM menu will be displayed only to the users with "administer CiviCRM" permission

I would also recommend checking / reading CiviCRM book: http://flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/

Hi Kurund!

Looking at admin/user/permissions, I have two colums there:

Guest
Authenticated User

How can I access this on a per user basis?

Regards,
Torsten

P.S.: Thanks for pointing me to http://flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/. I did not see this before. How does it relate to the documentation at http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/CiviCRM+Documentation? Unfortunately it did not provide any hints to my problem.

Hi,
I'm new and struggling too.  I'm not sure if this is what they meant but
I found this

maybe this is what they were talking about...
from linux server console  :   drush civicrm-cache-clear (solved a wierd user permission issue I had today)

or logged in as an admin into civicrm ...
To reset the CiviCRM cache (moving from localhost to live site for example) goto this address:
yourdomain/index.php?q=civicrm/menu/rebuild&reset=1
or maybe just clearing the browser cache ( but that didn't work for me earlier) :P

Good luck!

"Clearing the cache" in CiviCRM seems to refer to deleting  ALL contents of the templates_c folder in your (Drupal) files/civicrm folder.

It has worked wonders for me.
