activity on 2.0 sandbox
January 28, 2008, 03:20:23 pm
just tested the sandbox,

added an activity to

https://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=157

1. when i input the data for the custom information , which in this case is interview, details of interview,  it doesn't save this information.

2. will i be able to have this information put into one of the tabs?
3. can i add profile fields to an activity?  ( why would i want that.. this allows me to ask certain important questions from different tabs, in one area.

Thanks for trying out things on the 2.0 sandbox!

Your item 1. is definitely a bug. I recreated it on my local install as well and I've posted a bug report: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2591

Regarding 2. - No, only groups of custom fields which are used for "Contact" records can be put into tabs

Regarding 3. - Activity fields can not be included in Profiles at this time. In general, the only "transactional" fields which can be put in a profile are selected Contribution, Membership and  Participant fields. These are supported for use in online contribution and event registration forms. We haven't figured out a clean way to generally support record types in a profile where there are > 1 record per contact.

Thanks for your quick response..follow up question

4. regarding the custom data in the activity, I've noticed in the import activity, doesn't' have the custom activity there, does this mean i cant import custom data information for activity?

5. on that note. i dont see a way for me to import, the following fields:
    "added by"
    "details"

6. looking back to item #3 below, i am trying to think of ways, where i can have one form for our staff to fill out, after completing an interview, instead of going through all the tabs and editing their information.  i was thinking of creating interview as an event, and then have all the fields that i want updated as a custom profile,  have the staff member register for this "interview event" and fill out all the information,  but the problem is, if i am not logged in as the user, i  wont see any information thats already existent and i'll have to have registration open to non registered users.   Is there way for an admin to log in as another  user ( a registred member)  with an admin password?

thank you

Regarding items 4 and 5 - I think the missing fields and the inability to import custom fields should be addressed and I've re-opened the Activity Import issue:
http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2456

Regarding item 6 - An admin / permissioned user can access other contact's records that they would normally have permission for using profile/view or profile/edit.  You can try this by logging in to the sandbox and going to: http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/edit?reset=1&gid=1&id=55

However, I'm pretty sure this capability is not enabled for Event Registration.
