Hi all,

We are having a problem with something that seems like it should "just work."

We have created a test profile that contains two fields: "external ID" (Contact data) and "affiliation" (Individual data). The profile is set to update matching contacts, and the external identifier weight is equal to the dupe matching threshold in the individual - strict rule.

But when we attempt to use this simple form to update the affiliation for an existing ID, we get a "External ID already exists in Database" error every time.

Ideas?

hi stevem,
i was able to replicate this issue on both 3.4.4 and 3.4.5 so it may be a bug. i would suggest you see if you can replicate it on the demo. just be sure to use the demo site that corresponds to your current installation. with regard to the latter: it would be really helpful if you updated your profile for this forum because, when people know which version of civi/cms you are using it makes it easier for them to provide appropriate help.
