CiviEvent integration with Google Calendar
September 06, 2011, 02:36:42 am
We have tried using the iCal source provided by CiviEvent to automatically include events in our Google Calendar, but have been unable to get it working as we'd like.

In particular, apart from the timezone issue described at forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,20707.msg86532.html, we have found that disabling events in CiviEvent such that they're no longer listed in the iCal source doesn't remove them from being listed in our Google Calendar.

Thus, we would appreciate CiviEvent providing explicit support for integration with Google Calendar.

Thanks in anticipation,

Alexis.

Hi Lobo,

Thanks for your response. Do you mean I should modify the iCal.tpl file to include:

UID:{$event.uid}
SEQUENCE:{$event.uid}

If so, is every new UID created guaranteed to be numerically 'larger' than all previously created UIDs? Because as Barry noted in the thread you linked to, "[t]he SEQUENCE number must be larger than the previous sequence number for that event to indicate a change."

Alexis.

sorry, have not checked that patch (or committed it). so not sure if it does exactly what you want, but does seem a step forward

you might want to base your future patches from that one
