Are event "add-ons" and options possible?
September 07, 2011, 11:28:42 am
Hi have a use-case where an event has registration fees (type: event fee) but also desired are 'add-ons' such as:

* raffle tickets $5 (Select number to purchase)
* tshirt $15
* banquet dinner $45
* breakfast $20

 :D

These would be optional 'add-ons' to the registration, and would increase the total price accordingly, but they are not registration fees per se.   The combination of options is so great that creating different event fees for these combinations in impractical.

I don't think event 'add-ons' is something CiviCRM can do, or can it?    If not, I wanted to ask if anyone had a use-case similar and what their work around was?

Thanks, please let me know

Thanks for the tip.  I haven't used price sets for events before.   Works pretty slick.

Yes I would prefer if these extra 'add ons' were not "event fees" but rather another contribution type.  But I think we can live with out that, it is not critical.

I was wondering what the best way of doing the following:

Ad journal banquet event where

Contribution W = up to 8 participants
Contribution X = Up to 2 participants
Contribution Y = No participants
Contribution Z = 1 participant with the ability to order more than 1 at this price

I'm looking at price sets, but you can only set 1 price set to an event.

Have you confirmed that you can't do this with a single Price Set though given that each of the above look like they could work as either a radio or numeric field within a checkbox, with eg the W set to count as 8 participants?

I am not that au fait with Event Price Sets but from the early discussions about them this sounds like a likely use case

don't really know but looks like you are trying to do it with a single field - which won't work
i expect you need multiple fields one for the ones that count as 8, one for the 2's etc

It asks first how many people are you?

Then I choose say 6
Then I choose the Founder option
Then I register myself
It then asks me for a second registration for a new price point.

What I'd like to happen is to say that I'm 6 people and only be charged 1 time for the particular price point of founder.

Thoughts?

then don't set your event so it allows registrations of more than 1 person
