How to give EarlyBird prices at backend after the Early Bird period ends
September 07, 2011, 06:22:34 pm
Haven't found a solution for this but found this unanswered post http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,13296

Is there a correct process for this? This is using a Price Set with EarlyBird.

Via Backend I can't see any options. I wondered about adding on the current price, not sending out the registration, changing things in backend, and then going back in to send out the registration confirmation - but my first tinkering in back end didn't achieve what i wanted. WHile I can obviously change the 'fee amount' changing the 'fee level' doesn't seem to make the changes i need.

One option would be to see if changing the Active On/ Expire On dates in the Price Field temporarilly and doing the few registrations and then flipping it back would work assuming no one new was registering during that time.

Any thoughts?

We are dealing with "late" early-birds as follows.

Price set contains 2 early-bird price fields and two standard price fields (one of each for members and non-members). These are set with the appropriate 'expires on' and 'valid from' dates.

The first option in each field is a $0 option as we make all fields compulsory on our registration form.  We want them to actively state that they are entitled to the member discounted fee or that they are not. This $0 option is essential for processing 'late early-birds'.

The price options are radio buttons and initially all were set to be compulsory and to be viewed by the public.

Once the last date for early-birds had passed the 2 early-bird price fields were set to be optional and to be visible only to admin.

This means that anyone registering on-line can only see and chose from the standard prices, however if we want to give someone the early-bird price we can do it easily through the backend.

We
  • select the $0 price options for the 2 compulsory standard price fields
  • select the correct early-bird fee option from the appropriate early-bird price field
  • leave the other early-bird price field with no selection as it is optional

This means we can always register people through the back-end at early-bird prices.
