I have decided to use the following sub contact type student, teacher and alumni in the indiviudal contact type. But I ran into problem when a student graduated and couldnt move his/her contact type to alumni.. is there a way around this?

I'm not really interested in having multiple contacts at this time may be in the future that would be great ;D. Is there a way to change this through civicrm without going to PHPmyadmin I'm afraid that if i change the contacts through PHPmyAdmin will mess up my data.  ???

currently no. But would be good to have a function that allows change of a contact subtype. There will be some data loss (depending on custom fields etc)

if you do write the above code, please share so we could potentially incorporate it into core
