Find individual belonging to organizations in a group

Hi.

I have a smart group of organizations that is defined by geography.  The group basically includes all organizations that are in a list of states.  I would like to be able to get a list of all individual contacts employed at these organizations.  I'm not able to figure out how to make this query using the civicrm search functionality.  Does anyone have any ideas?

It took me an hour but I figured it out.  In Advanced search select the group(s) you want to search, then change the 'Display Results As' dropdown to 'Related Contacts' and 'Employee of'.

This IS very helpful...but now how do I make the resulting search a smart group? When I save the search results as a new smart group and then click on "contacts" for that group, I get a list of organizations. If I edit the criteria, I am once again looking at the full list that I wanted...so why doesn't it save this as the smart group.

I want users to be able to click on "Contacts" next to the name of the smart group "Employees of Member Organizations" and immediately do an export or send a mass mailing.

My version is CiviCRM 3.4.6.

Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce this on demo; it works: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/group/search?reset=1&force=1&context=smog&gid=7

another bug (also not happening on demo) is that inactive relationships are included in my smart group results

perhaps an unrelated issue but something that would be helpful in debugging...is there ANY way to edit these smart groups criteria directly? I find it impossible to edit existing smart groups through the web interface--I have no idea what or how to edit and save. It would be much easier to just edit the query directly.

I think the relationship one might be fixed in 3.4.8 (but as u confirmed for definite in 4.1!)

the other bug has also been fixed in 4.1. Upgrading to 4.1 might be worth it for u, IMO

Not possible to edit smart group criteria currently
