Where is Modified Pane in advanced search

I need to remove a bunch of contacts I added on a particular day. I have read about the modified pane in advanced search, but I do not see it in my 1.8 install. Would someone be so kind as to lead this blind man to his destination?

Also, if a record is queued for import but determined to be a duplicate and NOT imported, will the original's modified date be changed?

The pane is labeled "Change Log" - you can see it on the public demo here:
http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/contact/search/advanced?reset=1

I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if the duplicate checking during import updated the original's modified date UNLESS you're using the "Update" or "Fill" option (in which case the original record may be modified).
