Austrailian GST on CiviEvent/CiviContribute
September 13, 2011, 06:42:22 am
I have a requirement from an Australian non-profit that CiviCRM allow them to comply with their government's GST rules.   In short, for most of their paid events they need to charge an extra 10% to the participant, then later on send appropriate reports and money to their government.  (More official details at: http://www.ato.gov.au/content/33538.htm )

The same would apply if they use a "CiviContribute" page to sell memorial plaques, or other items covered by the GST rules.

Any ideas on if this has been done before in CiviCRM?

(I am located in the US, so excuse my ignorance of Australian tax laws)

Did you ever get a reply? There are many organizations in Australia using CiviCRM and would be subject to the same rules. I would think that if it's a non-profit, there may be exemptions but I am also not an expert on Australian tax laws.
