Dashboard stalls for Admin, not user
September 17, 2011, 10:21:36 pm
D7, Civicrm-4.05.  Pretty much all working at this point.

The Dashboard never does load for the admin (drupal userid=1, Civicrm contactID=102) (see first image attached below).  Just sits there spinning that little geary-thing forever.  I can configure dashboard, & refresh it.  Just doesn't load.

Dashboard functions normally for a regular user (see second image).  Two dashlets load up just fine.

The fact that all works fine for the regular user seems to eliminate all the suggestions I've found on these boards.  Any ideas?  Thx.

PS -- Seems to me Civicrm v.4 loads & runs significantly faster than the previous version(s) I've used.  Thanks for all the hard work!

PPS - Hmmm.  The board here wouldn't let me post even one 30kb jpg image.  --- Oh, I see.  The total must be under 64kb, which I could do by reducing the sizes of the images.

Hard to say, but what I would do is look in the Net tab of Firebug for Firefox and try to find the Ajax call for the dashboard and see if it's returning an error...

Huh!  Well, I figured it out.  It's a conflict with Drupals Devel module.  First I've seen.

I haven't tried this on a fresh install, but on my install here's how to reproduce:

Install Drupal's Devel module & turn on 'Display page timer' and/or  'Display memory usage'.  Then the CiviCRM dashlets won't load.  Turn 'em both off and you're fine.

So it's nothing to do with the admin role except that's the only role on my site with access to Devel.

These things will happen.
