Pay Other Amount for CiviEvents?
September 21, 2011, 07:00:17 pm
Wondering if anyone has run up against this scenario:
Sliding scale event registration fees.  The listed price of the event may be something like $100, but no one is turned away, so we want to let people register for the event with any contribution over say, $10.

Another alternate scenario is one in which we want to let a participant register for an event AND give an extra donation for a scholarship fund. In this later scenario, the event fee portion of the payment is NOT tax deductible, but the donation portion would be tax deductible.

Anyone have any thoughts about how to do this?  Can price sets have tax deductible amounts and non tax deductible amounts?

For the scenario where someone is either allowed to choose how much to pay, or make an extra donation of any amount I do the following:

1) Configure the event to use a priceset

2) Add a priceset field of type "Text/Numeric Quantity", setting the Unit Price as "1".    Also un-check the box for "Display Amount".

For the situation where some parts of the priceset are tax-deductable and others not: This seems to require the completion of the CiviAccounts project, which will allow each item in the priceset to have a different contribution type.
